Last day in London :(

Last night we finally made it to the Jack the Ripper walking tour. It was awesome and we had a really great guide. It also gave us all sorts of new ideas of places to explore when we come back to visit again. Also we know who Jack the Ripper was now. Neener neener neener! Maybe if you are lucky we will tell everyone some day. We also got to see Diagon Alley! Yes it is real! Well the place is real, but there is not a bunch of fun Harry Potter stuff in the shops. Still really cool to see it though.
So Lainey and I are all packed up and ready to go home tomorrow. It is very sad. The whole we leave here at 10:25am and magically end up at home eleven hours later at 1:35pm is strange. I am crossing my fingers that my bag is not overweight. I will be wearing all of my heaviest clothing articles including my rainboots again so that should be super comfy on the plane haha I am definitely going to miss London, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone at home. See you all soon!!!

Weekend Woo Hoo!!!

Saturday I got to see my Aunt Geri again!!! It was great we went back to Camden and explored all over again. I wore my rain boots because I am smart like that and sweated my poor feet off, but it still was a great day. It was sad when we parted ways on the tube though. I was the weird crying lady on the tube :(. Oh well I am making my plans to come back already so I will be able to have more adventures with my Aunt Geri.

Saturday evening we all got gussied up and went out to Ashes to Ashes the new romantics night at the London stone.

We had a blast and danced like maniacs all night.

Luckily we got enough sleep and were up and ready to go on a mini adventure this morning before out tea party. We found Forbidden Planet London's largest comic book store. It was super nerdy and super cool. We also found a bunch of things there we would have loved to been doing this whole time here, but we just missed one turn the way that we usually ventured out. Eventually we made our way home and got ready for tea. Unfortunately today was a billion hundred degrees so walking around all dressed up nice was not so good. Everyone was hot and sweaty. Fortnum and Mason was lovely and air conditioned though.

We weren't sure if there was going to actually be anything that would be vegan friendly, but our waiter spoke with the chef and they said no problem! Our tea and food was delicious!

Then cucumber finger sandwiches, vegan scones, fruits and strawberry juice

and of course tea

Today was fun, but sadly it just means one day closer to leaving. I miss everyone at home terribly, and I am ready to come home, but at the same time I am not quite done with London. Two more days until the ten hour plane ride.

Busy Bees

On Thursday we had some assignments due and presentations. Yes we actually do school work here its not all palaces and adventures all the time. After class we all went to visit E.K.A a really cute boutique in Notting Hill. She carries brands that are not usually carried in the UK so it was interesting to see. She also had a very cute dog which made the visit that much better. Next we went to the Lipsy store at Westfield for a tour of the store. It was a quick stop, but it was nice to see what we had already learned at the Lipsy headquarters in action.
While we were at the mall we stopped by the champagne bar that they had out in the middle of the mall. It was silly, but fun. We had champagne and strawberries, and I had to refrain from singing the strawberries and champagne song. We had an early night and went to bed since Lainey and I still have the plague.

Friday morning we all met up and went out to Spitafields Market for Fashion Fridays.

Photobucket

The bunny statues were on our way to the market. I love them. I think this balloon dress was the highlight of the market for me haha.

Photobucket

We had a break for lunch and then all headed over to the Tate Modern.

Photobucket

We were on the south side of the river, which was damaged by all of the bombings during WWII. It was sad to see because all of the buildings on that side of the river were all very new and futuristic looking. I prefer the old stone buildings. We also walked past this:

Photobucket

Yes I am a complete Harry Potter nerd.

The Tate was nice, and we spent a little while there looking around at the various exhibits. It was very busy so that made it a little harder to navigate. After the Tate we went through the Borough Market which was really fun. We even managed to find some vegan savory pies. They turned out to be gross, but we were excited about them at the time.

And I got a pretzel as big as my head.

After scarfing down my pretzel we went over to the Zandra Rhodes fashion and textile museum where Tommy Nutters work was on display.

The exhibit was set up to look like Savile Row and it was very fun. Various celebrities let them borrow their pieces for the exhibit. We had a little time after the museum to walk around. Lainey and I found a very cute pet store that had couture dog collars and leashes. I of course found something for the dog and the cats there.

Next we had the privledge of speaking with Ben Scholten. It was amazing. He went over the different fabrics and prints that they have done, and explained how they let the fabric tell them what to do not the other way around.

Ben then began to show us some of the vintage samples that were there.

Then he told us that we got to try them on!

Photobucket

Haha yeah that is me wearing a vintage Zandra Rhodes sample with a wolfman t-shirt on haha The top was completely transparent so I was just keeping things G rated. We had so much fun there no one wanted to leave. But we had to. We had a roomies night in. Katy Chelsea Lainey and I all stayed up way too late.

I visit palaces, and study at Oxford. No big deal.

On Wednesday morning, Lainey and I got as smart looking as we could and hopped on our school bus to Oxford! But before we went to study at Oxford, (yes I am going to say I studied at Oxford as much as I can), we stopped by Blenheim Palace.

It was beautiful there. We went on a portion of the tour but then had to be huried over to Oxford. You can't show up and be the rude late Americans. We stayed for a lecture at Oxford on the future of retailing.

The class was interesting, and we all managed to follow it, without looking dumb :)

Home again home again jiggidy jig

Ok so not home, but in our London home. We got back in London around ten in the morning. We had a pretty terrible morning that put a pretty big cloud over the rest of our day. We tried to cheer ourselves up with a delicious dinner but it didn't work. We left the pub feeling worse than we had before we had gone in. Little did we know that we had the plague. Ok maybe not the plague but we have been super sick since Monday night. Tuesday we were back in class with tons of walking around which was really hard since we felt so lousy. We went to see the Central Saint Martins Graduate Collections which were amazing! We weren't allowed to take photos, but you should be able to find some here www.fdmcsm.tumblr.com. We also saw this there:

Photobucket

Aww they were just babies then.

We walked down to Carnaby Street and saw the original mod stomping grounds.

Photobucket

I then went into my new favorite shoe store.
Photobucket

And picked up these little sweeties.

Photobucket

We also made stops in Liberty and Selfridges, but by this time Lainey and I were dying and barely able to walk. We said goodbye to our classmates and trudged home to bed where we stayed for the rest of the night. Worst night ever. We both were dying and couldn't stay asleep. The plague I am telling you.

Dankeschoen Bremerhaven :)

So Thursday night crazy Lainey and I stayed up all night long, and took two buses at 2:00am to get to our shuttle bus to the airport. We got to the airport as early as they told us to, only to find out that the airport services that we needed were not even open yet, and would not open for at least another hour. We were sleep deprived and dying. Eventually we got on our flight and got a little nap on our way to Germany.

Lainey's sister Natalia and her nephew Ramon picked us up from the airport and drove us to her sister Jessica's house.

Here is her cute backyard:

We had a delicious vegan breakfast while Lainey and her sisters did some catching up. I don't speak German, but they were all very nice in trying to remember to speak English to me haha After breakfast we got some much needed sleep. Awake and revived Lainey and I went to her sister Natalia's house where we would be staying. There were kitties :) :) :)

All of the houses are so cute:

And there are woods not too far off:

We went to the Sea City hotel that is modeled after the ship sail hotel in Dubai to go up top and take a look.

At dinner that night I was introduced to Vita Maltz.
Photobucket

Its a ridiculously sugary drink that I guess is for little kids. It is delicious though. The next day we went to Bad 1. I saw the name and started laughing. I soon found out that bad translates to bath in German.

Photobucket

There were different pools and things inside. One pool you entered indoors then went through a tunnel outside. The pool was heated so you stayed warm, but you got the beauty of the wooded area outside. The other pool that we spent most of our time in was the experience pool, that had chairs with massage jets, and crazy waves section waterfalls that massage your shoulders, and a giant swimming area in the middle. We also went in the steam room, but didn't stay too long because we are big babies.

This is the church Lainey was baptised in. Its a very pretty church.

Photobucket

The entire town is based around the harbor so it all felt very nautical, which I love.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then we played with the kitties some more :)
Photobucket

We went to a very smelly ashtray of a bar, then quickly left. We ventured out to another bar that was nice, but empty. Eventually we ended up at a very silly dance club, since it was Lainey's nephews birthday.

Photobucket

The next day we went out to Lainey's grandparents house. They live out in the country where it is crazy beautiful. We stopped to say hello to some cows.
Photobucket

Her whole family was very nice, and tried hard to still include me eventhough we had such a language barrier. Later on we went to a really nice park that had a really creepy windmill.
Photobucket

Photobucket

It also had an Alice in Wonderland rose garden.
Photobucket

I loved Germany and wish that I could have stayed longer. I plan on learning how to speak German and going back someday. Lainey and I just barely made our plane back to London running out to the plane so as not to be left behind.
